The Adopt-a-Pantry program is a pool fund for the Food
Bank member programs and agencies. Each year, the Food Bank
for Westchester places a minimum of $20,000
into the fund and solicits funds from the donor
community. Current contributors to this fund
includes the ShopRite Partners in Caring Program,
which provides over $80,000 annually for Westchester
hunger fighting programs. Donors may contribute
their funds to become part of the “pool” distribution
or they may designate a specific program to benefit
from their donation. The Adopt-a-Pantry
funds are distributed to member programs as lines
of credit that they can use to acquire food from the Food Bank.
The Food Bank member programs are asked
to provide a brief description of their need for
these funds on their letterhead three times a
year or a donor may specify a recipient.
