Westchester Foodies, a new electronic initiative offering entertainment and dining deals to subscribers via weekly cell-phone text messages, has partnered with Food Bank for Westchester.

Foodies will donate $1 to the Food Bank for every new individual who signs up for this free weekly text-message service. All you need to do is click here, enter your cell phone number, choose which alerts you'd like to receive, and redeem by showing the message at the venue.

For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, we are able to acquire $4 worth of food to feed our hungry neighbors.

Thank you to the following individuals:

FBW Board Member Bruce Wilson, of North Creek Advisors, asked supporters of his September triathlon to make a donation on his behalf to the Food Bank, generating $4,000.

Do you have a delicious recipe that you'd like to share -- and a story to go with it? Maybe this is a special family recipe handed down from past generations or one that you thought up at the last minute. We want to hear from you.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Family recipes
  • Travel - meals or ingredients that inspired you on your journey (could be as close as your local farmer's market)
  • Can't mess this up
  • Baking

If you would like to be included in the cookbook, please send your name, hometown, email address, recipe and story by November 15, 2010 to
